DXA Scan ?
A DXA scan (formerly known as DEXA scanning) is a low-dose x-ray. In fact, total radiation exposure is less than a daily dose from environmental sources. A bone density test, DXA, measures the mineral content of the bones in certain areas of the skeleton. It’s a way to measure bone loss as you age.
The DXA scan procedure is relatively quick and generally takes less than seven minutes (depending on body size). Medical experts consider DXA scans to be the most useful, easy, and inexpensive test for helping to diagnose osteoporosis. The test is quick and painless.
The individual being tested remains fully clothed and lies still in a supine position for the duration of the x-ray. The technician will help position you correctly.
